Welcome! My name is Bryan Henry. My experience in Music Instruction dates back to February of 2002 where I began teaching Guitar at a small business in Wheelersburg, OH entitled ‘Noteworthy Studios.’ I began my Piano teaching a year later, and then my Vocal Coaching shortly after. My experience has brought my students through several Recitals, External Studies, and Songwriting. I currently have a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music Composition and Theory from Eastern Kentucky University. My performance studies focused on Guitar, Piano, and Voice. These studies are greatly reflected in my private lessons and allow my students to take advantage of their creativity. I have also instructed Guitar and Piano Groups during my University Studies and thereafter. I look forward to seeing the future of my students’ performance progress and their creativity being shared with the world! Thank you! -BH

Resume
I love playing flute and I am very passionate about quality music education. I have undergraduate and graduate degrees in Music Education from Western Kentucky University and Jacksonville State University. I have taught all levels of flute students ranging from beginners to collegiate level flute players. My flute playing experience is eclectic to say the least! I have played principal flute in Western Kentucky University’s Symphonic Band and Orchestra and Jacksonville State University’s Wind Ensemble and played flute with the Gadsden Symphony Orchestra. In 2013 I was featured as a soloist on the Western Kentucky University Symphony Orchestra’s tour of China. At Western Kentucky University I founded our school’s Woodwind Quintet Gone With the Winds and pursued my interest in chamber music further playing principal flute in Jacksonville State University’s premier flute quartet. Most notably the Jacksonville State University flute quartet performed a full length recital at the San Diego National Flute Convention in 2016. Additionally I have also played the pennywhistle in an Irish band! Currently I teach elementary music in Lawrenceburg, Kentucky.

Mindfulness. Representation. Connection.
These three words embody my studio and teaching.
All three are born out of my own rocky relationship with piano. I’ve battled negative self-talk, feelings of worthlessness & inadequacy, performance anxiety, disastrous performances.
So I know how difficult learning & cultivating a musical craft can be. I know the ways we tear ourselves down. I know that unless we have the skills to navigate through the challenging times, piano lessons can constantly feel like a burden instead of a joy.
No matter our age, mindfulness, representation, and connection support us along the path to developing fruitful musical lives.
And yes, I teach all the necessities of playing piano: technique, aural skills, note reading, sight-reading, etc. because you can’t truly connect to the musical world if you don’t know the vocabulary. But we can’t learn the necessary vocabulary if we don’t feel safe enough to try new things. My studio is that safe space.
